Acquisition of Japan Visa

Upon establishing a business entity, a foreigner who intends to work in Japan is required to apply for the relevant visa. The visas relating to foreign employment are as follows:

Business Manager Visa (Investment Visa)

Representatives or directors of Japanese company may apply for a Business Manager Visa.

 

-Important conditions:

・Company must have an independent and exclusive physical office location. (Company with virtual office, shared office, joint office, etc. may not apply for this visa)
・Generally, Company is required to have a capital of 5 million yen or more, or to employ 2 or more permanent staff, etc.

Intra-Company Transferee Visa (Work Visa)

Employee may apply for the Intra-Company Transferee Visa if she/he is transferred from an overseas Parent Company.

 

-Important conditions:

・Applicant must have held a position at the overseas Parent Company for more than one year.
・Applicant’s academic qualifications must meet certain conditions.
・Her/His wage paid by the Japanese company must not be lower than those of Japanese personnel.

Engineer/ Specialist in Humanities/ International Services Visa (Work Visa)

When Company recruits and hires a foreigner in Japan, this type of visa can be applied.

 

-Important conditions:

・Applicant’s academic qualifications must meet certain conditions (university graduate and above)
・Her/His wage paid by the Japanese company must not be lower than those of Japanese personnel.
